Old Cataract Hotel, or just "Cataract Hotel" as it was named when it opened its doors in 1899. It soon became such an essential rendezvous for leading world figures that already in 1901 tents where erected around the hotel to help the demand. One of its famous guests, Agatha Christie made the hotel known through her novel "Death on the Nile", and later the film based upon same book where filmed here.
